Boundary layer structure and air quality in urban heat islands and in sensitive regions is measured with in-situ and vertical sounding systems recording near-surface values and vertical profiles of aerosol concentrations and meteorological parameters. An ultra-light aircraft with miniaturized instruments is available for boundary-layer air quality and flux measurements.
